Join us Downtown!

Join Washington Hebrew Congregation’s 2239 for Metro Minyan- a casual, musical (with guitar), come-as-you-are Shabbat experience (with a delicious dinner to follow). 2239 is bringing Shabbat to you! We welcome those of you (ages 21+) in DC for summer internships to join us!

This Metro Minyan will meet at Mt Vernon Place United Methodist Church, located at 900 Massachussets Avenue, NW close to Metro Center and Gallery Place/Chinatown as well as the Mount Vernon Square stop on the Metro. Services begin at 7:00 pm, followed by Shabbat dinner, schmoozing and other Shabbat-y things.

If you can get ther a little early, join us for our new Torah-learning initiative called “A Shot of Torah.” In a nutshell, “A Shot of Torah” is a 30-minute opportunity to study the Torah portion and dive into some serious Jewish discussion, all over some good scotch (other drinks, including non-alcoholic, will also be made available).

When: Friday, July 20th, (the service starts at 7:00. “Shot of Torah” starts 45 minutes earlier with a l’chaim at 6:15 sharp)
