Dear Friend,

GTJ has been running full speed since its founding in March 2010.  Nine months.

It’s been quite the ride.  We’ve had a lot of fun, and hopefully we’ve somehow improved your DC Jewish life, be it through our comprehensive calendar, our newsletter, or our entertaining and impressive Jewish People of the Week.

Recently, we’ve taken things to a whole new level.  In the past two weeks, we’ve received over 4,100 website hits; we added our 1,700^th email to our listserve; we’ve ramped up our blog to cover more DC Jewish stories, and we’ve recruited two more volunteer staff members (for a total of 18 staff members).

We now want to go even further.  But to do this, we need your help.  In honor of the 613 mitzvot outlined in the Torah, we’re asking that you help us raise $6,130.00 by the end of January 2011 by donating $10.00 today.

Where will this money go?

• To a new dynamic events calendar that will allow users to register for event reminders, save events, rate events, and see who else is going to events.
• To increased coverage and reporting of Jewish events.
• To increased outreach toward Jews unaware of our city’s Jewish opportunities.
• To increased coverage of our Jewish Girl/Guy of the Year competition.
• To basic website, corporation, and insurance costs.
• To a mobile phone application for Jewish events.
• To ensure calendar comprehensiveness and organizational cooperation.
• To negotiate special offerings for community members.
• To raise awareness of community accomplishments.
• To help GTJ expand to five additional cities by the end of 2011.

We think these are all worthwhile instruments for achieving our ultimate goal of facilitating Judaism in Washington DC.  We hope you agree are willing to us reach our goal by donating $10.00 to Gather the Jews.
