Rachel: What brought you to DC?
Miriam: I’m one of those rare natives born in DC!  I love this city and have been here my whole life so choosing GW for law school was a no brainer.

Rachel: You serve as the Vice President of the Jewish Law Student Association (JLSA).  Why did you decide to get involved?  What kinds of things does JLSA do?
Miriam: I decided to get involved with JLSA my 2L year of law school in order to connect to the jewish community at GW Law and help ensure a vibrant jewish culture could exist in our law school.  JLSA hosts a variety of events including Shabbat dinners, lunch and learns for all law students to learn about issues affecting jewish people, study breaks during high stress exams, and much more.  We also strive to be inclusive of the entire student body to create a positive learning environment where students are encouraged to educate themselves though experiencing the diversity of our school.

Rachel: We heard that JLSA is hosting a Purim party this weekend.  Can you tell us more about it?
Miriam: We are so excited to be able to host our annual Purim Party again this year!  It’s really going to be a great event on Saturday night at BlackFinn starting at 9pm.  We will have Purim themed drinks, tons hamantaschen brought in from NYC, a DJ, and dance floor all night!!  We love to do this event in order to bring together the Jewish community in DC at large.  Many law students at GW are new to DC so this is a great way for them to get to know the community.

Rachel: Where can we find you on a Friday night?
Miriam: Either at my friend’s house drinking a bottle of wine and watching Netflix or out on 14th street at my favorite bars.

Rachel: What is your favorite Jewish holiday?
Miriam: Passover because my mom always makes her special homemade matzo ball soup!

Rachel: Who is the coolest Jew?
Miriam: It’s a tie between James Franco and Mila Kunis.

Rachel: Finish the sentence: When the Jews gather…
Miriam: We make our grandmothers proud!
