Rachel: What brought you to DC?
Orly: I just started law school at George Mason, and they wouldn’t let me telecommute from Toronto.
Rachel: You live in the Arlington Moishe House. What’s that like?
Orly: Moishe House is always rockin’ – it can get a little loud and busy at times, but as a recent transplant to the area it has been an incredible way to meet people. The best people show up to our house.
Rachel: Any cool Israel stories? A favorite memory?
Orly: When I was growing up my family spent summers in Israel doing archaeology. I got to dig, too, and I found some really cool things – like a 5,000 year old altar (and a lot of scorpions). When I use a pick-axe or smell the dirt in Israel I feel like a kid again. And don’t even get me started on wheelbarrows!
Rachel: What’s your favorite way to spend Shabbat?
Orly: Mm.. I like a good dinner with friends and a day full of anything-but-law-school books. Maybe a card game. A few naps and ALWAYS coffee heath bar crunch ice cream.
Rachel: What is your favorite Jewish holiday?
Orly: That’s a tough call! Pesach is great because it means lots of time with family, but Sukkot means fall and apples and camping and paper chains… Sukkot wins.
Rachel: Who is the coolest Jew?
Orly: I don’t like the Rangers, but I still love Jeff Halpern!
Rachel: Finish the sentence:
Orly: When the Jews gather… bagelling begins?
