Aaron: What brought you to DC?
Jonathan: I was drawn to DC after interning here both during college and as part of my law school’s Legislative Clinic.  I love that there are so many smart people here who want to do their part to make the world a better place.

Aaron: You work for the Coalition on the Environment and Jewish Life.  What kinds of things does COEJL do?
Jonathan: COEJL promotes environmental activism within the Jewish community and works with partner organizations to advocate for environmental and energy policies that reflect a concern for future generations and are in line with Jewish values.

We are excited for our upcoming community organizing training on March 13-14, where we will help participants gain the skills they need to make an impact on climate and energy issues in their local Jewish organizations. Register today!

Jonathan: Matzo ball soup with light, floating matzo balls.  My grandfather liked his matzo balls hard as rocks, but I prefer my Passover free of indigestion.

Aaron: Who is the coolest Jew?
Jonathan: Gabby Giffords, who represented my home district in Tucson and has been a personal hero.  I first met her in 2004 when she was in the state legislature, and was struck by her thoughtfulness and integrity.  It has been truly inspiring to see her elected to the US Congress and to see her persevere after the tragic shooting two years ago.

Aaron: Finish the sentence: When the Jews gather…
Jonathan: They can accomplish amazing things, like being a powerful voice for environmental sustainability.
