- Presidential campaign viral videos from both sides of the aisle have Jewish ties.
- Slovenia and Estonia have announced new restrictions on ritual slaughter that will impact both Jewish and Muslim communities. They are not the first European countries to do so: The Dutch lower house had passed a ban on all ritual slaughter that was later scrapped by the Dutch Senate. The Dutch government is now pursuing regulation of ritual slaughter within the country. However, ritual slaughter is expected to come under further attack as countries alter laws to become compliant with European Regulation 1099, enacted by the EU to introduce regulations limiting the suffering of animals at the time of slaughter.
- Israel has moved up its elections to early 2013, yet Netanyahu is expected to win an easy victory.

- French-Jewish physicist, Serge Haroche, has jointly won the Nobel Prize in Physics.
- Former NBA Most Valuable Player Allen Iverson is signing on to play for Maccabi Haifa in two exhibition games- and perhaps for more.
- Anne Hathaway joins a growing list of Hollywood stars walking down the aisle in a traditional Jewish wedding. Is this a sign that being Jewish has become aspirational as Rachel Shukert suggests in her recent article? Or does the fact that both a priest and rabbi were present negate the chuppah?
