Voters in New York’s Ninth Congressional district are today (9/13) deciding how to replace former Congressman Anthony Weiner.
The race has picked up a lot of Jewish interest because:
1) The Democratic candidate, David Weprin, is a orthodox Jew.
2) The district is the most Jewish district in the country (h/t Jerusalem Post).
But despite Weprin’s Jewish identity, the district’s large Jewish population, and the fact that registered Democrats outnumber registered Republicans by a margin of nearly 3 to 1, the election is predicted to be extremely close.
We’ll keep you posted. In the meantime, candidates there will continue to discuss jobs, the economy, Israel, and other issues they feel are of concern to the Jewish population.
