Ground Zero: Then and Now

Check out GTJ member, Michael Lipin‘s, Voice of America piece on the New York City buildings destroyed in the 9/11 tragedy.

As Michael notes, the terror attacks of that day destroyed more than just the Twin Towers.  A total of 10 NYC buildings were irreparably damaged.

“This is a story that I believe needs to be told, since many people outside New York don’t realize how many buildings were destroyed by the 9/11 attacks,” Michael told GTJ. But he stressed that this project is focused on the future, as well as being a memorial to the past.  He emphasized that “we should not forget what the terrorists took away from Lower Manhattan, but we should also take pride in how we’re rebuilding to make New York even better than it was before.” [Editor’s note: Lipin was expressing his own view, not that of VOA.]

His piece for VOA, prepared with the assistance of Alison Klein, provides an interactive map of the site that shows before and after pictures of the structures at Ground Zero. To view it, click here.
